Language trip of the 2nd advanced course
At the beginning of June, the 14 students of the 2nd advanced course, who have chosen French as a foreign language, went to France. As part of a cultural trip, they visited the French capital for 5 days with their class president Mag. Klaus Stöger (he also teaches the subject Art and Culture in the class) and their French teacher Prof. Mag. Gertraud Arthold.
The cultural program, excellently organized by Prof. Arthold, included visits to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, the Musée d' Orsay and, of course, the Palace of Versailles. City tours of the Île de la Cité, the artists' district of Montmartre and the entertainment district of Pigalle rounded off the extensive program. A sad picture was presented by the Cathedral of Notre Dame, which had been severely damaged in a fire a few weeks earlier.
One of the highlights, however, was certainly the backstage tour of the Ritz Hotel. It was organized by 2AUL student Matthias Birnbach, who used his good connections at the noble hotel.
While the program points were top, the weather unfortunately didn't quite cooperate - rain alternated daily with occasional sunny windows, and due to the heavy precipitation the return flight was only able to depart two hours late.
The cultural trip to Paris offered the 2AUL a break from the school day, a community experience away from exams and tests, and, of course, a first-rate enjoyment of art in one of Europe's leading cultural capitals.
